OTHER USES FOR HIGH DOSE IV VITAMIN C
INTRODUCTION: High dose IV vitamin C in the form of ascorbic
acid, involves giving perfusion of about 1.0g to 1.5g per kg of patient weight. It has been proven to be very
effective in treating cancer together with low dose chemotherapy (HI-C-LO-CHEMO), but there are other uses
where it can help as well, although no trial has been conducted so far. They include:
FOR NORMAL CANCER CHEMOTHERAPY/RADIOTHERAPY: Since it is
proven that low dose chemotherapy immediately following perfusion of high dose IV vitamin C is very effective
for the treatment of cancer, much more effective than chemotherapy alone, it should work the same way with
normal dose chemotherapy and for radiotherapy. Oncologists who do not want to reduce the normal dose of
chemotherapy drugs, and those using radiotherapy, can use this to improve the effectiveness of their cancer
treatment.
FOR TUBERCULOSIS AND MALARIA INFECTION: Tuberculosis
and malaria affects several millions of people around the world, and many are becoming resistant to the usual
drugs used to treat them, causing rising number of deaths. Using high dose IV vitamin C immediately before
giving the tuberculosis or malaria drugs may be able to help.
FOR OTHER BACTERIAL INFECTION: Antibiotics are usually
very effective in treating bacterial infection, but many bacteria are becoming more resistant to existing
antibiotics. The use of high dose IV vitamin C immediately before giving antibiotics may help.
FOR VIRAL INFECTION: There are many viral infections with
no effective drug treatment, so the use of high dose IV vitamin C may be able to help. These would include dangerous
viral infections like SARS, EBOLA, WUHAN viral infection.
FOR INFLAMMATION: For acute inflammation and for chronic
inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, and many
others, pretreatment with high dose IV vitamin C may help.
